My name is Laura Strickland, and I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Georgia Tech’s Robotics Ph.D. program. I got my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 2012. My research is on learning scalable, distributed coordination within a team of autonomous robots for team-vs-team competitive scenarios (e.g. capture-the-flag). With it becoming easier and cheaper to field large groups of robots than ever before, I believe that teamwork in competitive multi-robot scenarios will become much more important in all sorts of applications–from the fun, to the commercial, and beyond. In my free time, I enjoy running, playing trivia with friends, and playing video games.
