Hi! My name is Van Ai Duong and I am an Electrical and Computer Engineering MS student. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities in Spring 2019 with a Mathematics BS and minor in Computer Science. In CORE, I am currently working on independently building a miniature Mars Rover and small Mars yard testbed, and inversely learning rover path planning from MSL path plans. My previous work in CORE includes mission design for CubeSat demonstrations, proposal writing with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and developing a cable robot to monitor hydroponic plants.
Outside of CORE, I have worked with multiple NASA research centers, a commercial airlines company, and a transportation research facility. At NASA, a couple of my projects have involved developing pilot simulators and air traffic visualizations for Urban Air Mobility, creating a voice control software used to operate Mars rovers, and rapidly prototyping CubeSats for high altitude balloon experimentation.
